Project Summary

Summary

Claudia is a terminal-based AI chief of staff addressing the memory deficit in AI assistants. It functions as a persistent thinking partner, tracking relationships, commitments, and user judgment. Ideal for power users and engineers, it offers a continuously learning AI that adapts to individual work styles, enhancing personal knowledge management and strategic assistance.

How It Works

Claudia utilizes a memory system storing facts with provenance and semantic embeddings, recalled via hybrid ranking. A two-tier agent team (Haiku for processing, Sonnet for research) handles tasks, while Claudia retains strategic decisions. Overnight processes consolidate memories and surface patterns. It integrates with Obsidian, projecting memories into a user-owned markdown vault with synthesized topic pages and source citations.

Quick Start & Requirements

Install via npx get-claudia, then run claude from the claudia directory. Prerequisites include Claude Code, Node.js 18+, Python 3.10+ (memory), and Ollama for embeddings. Users must pull the all-minilm:l6-v2 model via Ollama. Google Workspace integration is available via npx get-claudia google.

Highlighted Details

  • Commitment Tracking: Proactive reminders for upcoming/overdue tasks.
  • Relationship Intelligence: Builds contact profiles tracking health and connections.
  • Learned Judgment: Internalizes and applies user-defined decision rules.
  • Pattern Detection: Identifies risks like overcommitment or neglected relationships.
  • Obsidian Knowledge Sync: Persists data in a user-owned markdown vault.
  • Source Provenance: All information traces back to its origin.
  • Iterative Research: /auto-research refines drafts against rubrics.

Maintenance & Community

Developed by Kamil Banc (@kamilbanc). Appears actively maintained with recent updates (v1.60). No specific community channels (Discord, Slack) are detailed.

Licensing & Compatibility

Released under the PolyForm Noncommercial License 1.0.0. Free for personal, research, educational, and nonprofit use. Commercial use requires explicit licensing.

Limitations & Caveats

The non-commercial license restricts business adoption. Setup involves multiple dependencies and configuration steps. Functionality is tied to the Claude Code runtime.
